I should probably be following a training guide by now

I went to Center City with my husband a few weekends ago to buy two things that are key to my goal. A new pair of running shoes and a book about triathlons. I could have ordered the book off of Amazon, but I wanted it NOW. So, I found one---'First Triathlon-Your perfect plan for success' by Lucy Smith. It's a great book about how to go about training for your first race, BUT it's a little too basic for me. Once I got to the part where you should only swim 700 yards for your swim part, I put it down. Hello?! Doesn't she know I can do much better than that? I already swim 1500m twice a week. Hmm, maybe I should start focusing on my weakest link first?! Yup, the running part. Not really fun for me. Especially since I don't own an MP3 player and have to rely on reading the closed caption on the tv. Not fun, not fun at all.
But I tried. Today, at the gym, I ran a little over 2 miles on the treadmill. Well, I didn't run the entire time. I logged 25 minutes and ran about 15 minutes in 3 increments--a 15mpm (minute per mile)pace, 12 mpm pace, and a 10mpm pace. It was hard for me and it sucked, but I did it. I followed it up with a 1000m swim. I felt pretty good.

I really need to post weekly training goals so I know I'm covering all my bases. That could be my homework for tonight while my husband and I watch Idol.

On a good note, my boys did not cry at all when I dropped them off at the childcare center at the gym. Success!!

Huh, I hear the pitter patter of feet. They have escaped from their tents and are on the run. Off I go!!

Best,

Christi
